Half Term Fun at the Corn Exchange

The kids may have only just gone back to school after the Christmas break, but the first half term of 2016 will be here before you know it...

There truly is something for everyone this February half term holiday!

From spectacular live shows to drama workshops and family sing-a-long sessions, there’s plenty to keep all the family busy at the Corn Exchange Newbury and New Greenham Arts this February half term holiday.

Little monsters aged 3+ years (and their grown-ups) will be delighted by the story of Sophie and her pet monster George in My Pet Monster and Me by Blunderbus Theatre Company. This big-hearted tale of friendship is told using magical songs, enchanting music and exquisite puppetry. Later on in the week, you can get closer to the action than ever before with The Hollywood Special Effects Show, as a team of trained professionals share special effects secrets straight from your favourite action films. Feel the heat from an onstage inferno, get up close with gruesome sci-fi monsters, be blown away by apocalyptic weather and hold on tight through huge explosions!

Junior Play in a Day is a chance for those aged 7 – 11 years to be part of a play created in just one day – which will be performed to an audience of family and friends at the end of the day. Run by theatre practitioners Charlotte Cassey and Kris Huball, the day will consist of games and exercises to create a play around the theme of ‘Mischief’. Play in a Day runs on the same premise but is for those aged 12 – 16 years who have a passion for performance and are looking to hone their theatre skills. The day will consist of exercises exploring ideas around the theme of ‘Bravery’ to create a new and exciting piece of theatre.

Firm family favourite, Nick Cope takes over the New Greenham Arts auditorium on Saturday 20 February for a delightful hour of interactive songs about everything from counting to how plants grow for the under-8s.
