Work Experience: My Time at the Corn Exchange

A fisheye lens capture of the auditorium seating.

My week at the Corn Exchange was fascinating. I really got an insight into what went on behind all of the performances put on here

Find out what work experience student Harriet Ferris thought about her week at the Corn Exchange

During the week, I got involved with all sorts. Coming into the placement, there wasn’t a specific area that I wanted to focus on, so I got a little taster of lots of different areas in the business. From marketing, to the technical side and also the box office, I now have an understanding in what all of these roles entail.

On the Thursday evening, I stewarded a show being broadcast live from The National Theatre in London: Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Stewarding the show was like a sort of break from the pretty full on week I had scheduled. All I had to do was direct people to their seats and then I was able to take a seat and enjoy the show too.

All that is left to say is a massive thank you to everyone at the Corn Exchange for being so welcoming and generally lovely people. My week has been so enjoyable and it’s because of the fab team they have here. I feel like I have got a lot out of it and best of all its given me things that I can take away and think about perusing in the future. I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing a work experience placement.
