101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space is our dedicated creation space for large-scale outdoor arts projects and company residencies.

OUTDOOR ARTS PROGRAMME

We run a year-round free outdoor arts programme presenting large-scale outdoor performance pieces produced by both the Corn Exchange and by range of national and international companies.

Recent years have seen the outdoor programme continue to go from strength to strength. In April 2015 the Corn Exchange and Periplum came together to produce 451, a visually stunning piece inspired by Ray Bradbury’s classic dystopian text Fahrenheit 451. The piece has since toured to festivals across Britain. We welcomed No Fit State to Newbury with their interactive circus extravaganza Open House in June. Records numbers of people participated in the sixth annual Festival of Light: Lantern Procession that twinkled its way through Newbury’s town centre in December. The Corn Exchange and Mark Anderson's 2014 production of a Dada-ist WW1 commemoration performance, Furious Folly also toured overseas to Belgium.

You can find out about all of our previous outdoor events here.

101

In 2014 we opened 101 a unique dedicated outdoor arts creation space. Based on the former USAF Greenham Common site 101 hosts residencies by professional artists and companies, as well as developing its own outdoor work. 101 also runs programme of community engagement and professional development activities. To find out more about 101 and our residency opportunities please visit the 101 website.
