It’s time for our annual convocation for all artists, producers, programmers, funders and other practitioners involved in making or presenting outdoor arts – whether you’re just starting out, been at it for decades or simply curious. For our part we’re interested in the future of outdoor arts and work in public space – understanding what the opportunities, challenges and tools are for us all navigating this uncertain landscape.
Four years after we first opened space at 101 for outdoor artists, we would never have imagined that we would be where we are now; embarking on our next chapter with more and better spaces to develop, test and support new work. We’re also launching a programme of exciting collaborations to create professional development opportunities for more of you, so we’re especially thrilled to invite you to 101 this year.
As we start to build collaborations with folks from other performance disciplines, sharing our expertise/skills with other artistic fields and learning about how new technology can push our art forward, we’re also aware of the ongoing challenges around funding, resources and access to the arts. How can we overcome these to make outdoor arts even better? What has excited you this year, and what hasn’t worked?
We’re all in this together, so please join us in November and spread the word. In this Open Space gathering the agenda is yours to set - come and work on those things that inspire you, that intrigue you or concern you. Nothing gets censored, everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you, hearing what’s on your mind and finding out what’s up for you now.
At lunchtime we're hosting the OutdoorArtsUK AGM - and if that sounds a little dry, despair not, because it will also be the Board elections which were hugely enjoyable last time round, with the live results at the end of the day.
