Learn how to make a willow lantern for the Corn Exchange’s annual Festival of Light so that you can make them with your group.
A free workshop for anyone running a local community or youth group. Go home with all the materials you need to make lanterns with your group so that they can join in at our annual Festival of Light: Lantern Procession. A great way to acquire a skill and involve your group in a fantastic community event.
In past years teachers, Scouts and Brownies and youth group leaders have attended this workshop to enable their class, troupe or group to take part in the parade. Participating groups should be available to take part in the Festival of Light parade on Sunday 10 December.
This workshop will show you how to make the lanterns, focusing on tips for making them with a larger group. In order that we are able to provide you with lantern making materials for your whole group, bookers will receive a form in advance asking for group numbers etc. Instructions and information about arrangements for taking part in the Festival of Light will also be provided.
Duration: 2 hours
This workshop takes place in partnership with City Arts and funded by Greenham Trust. Please visit their website for information on this organisation and how to find them. https://cityartsnewbury.co.uk/
