Enjoy Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle performed by the Newbury Spring Festival Chorus.

Rossini’s Petite Messe is one of the most joyful and uplifting sacred works in the entire repertoire composed by the Italian operatic genius after he finished writing for stage, and which he referred as “one of the sins of his old age”.

The spotlight will shine on Newbury Spring Festival Chorus and a cast of international star soloists led by Lucy Crowe with Claire Barnett Jones, Andres Presno and Ashley Riches, all under the direction of Tom Primrose.

Tonight’s performance will be accompanied by the unusual combination of two pianos, as originally scored, plus accordion (in place of harmonium) as approved by Rossini himself.
