For the first time ever, this summer NOCTURN brings you a range of one-off workshops delivered by guest professional dancers from across the UK.

Four Saturdays. Four leading dance artists. For adult dancers, of all abilities!

For the first time this summer, NOCTURN brings you a range of one off weekend workshops, delivered by some of the top professional dancers from across the UK.

Explore the vast landscape of contemporary dance, from contact improvisation to release technique in these fun must-try workshops for adults of all abilities.

Saturday 21 July – Kip Johnson

Kip’s class is a mix of structured improvisation, set material and most importantly playfulness. The workshop will play with the cause and effect of contact and how to create a relaxed efficiency whilst moving together.

10am – 1pm – Mixed ability class
2pm – 5pm – Mixed ability class *Please note this workshop is no longer going ahead.

Saturday 28 July – Sonia Rafferty

Sonia's dynamic class focuses on the idea of flow. The progressive technical material builds towards dynamic, lyrical and expressive sequences that are designed to challenge.

10am – 1pm – Advanced class, for those with sound contemporary experience *Please note this workshop is no longer going ahead.
2pm – 5pm – Mixed ability class

PLEASE NOTE: Saturday 28 July workshop will be held at the ACE Space, St. Nicholas Road, Newbury RG14 5PR. There is NO PARKING at the venue; we kindly ask users to park in the council owned car parks.

Saturday 11 August - Helen Parlor

Helen’s class will focus on low sense of gravity to achieve dynamic. Using shifting sequences to alter direction, focus and orientation. She will challenge your natural sense of direction.

10am – 1pm – Mixed ability class
2pm – 5pm – Mixed ability class

Saturday 18 August – Luke Birch

Luke’s class is a dynamic release based class to energise and awaken our dancing bodies. We will then explore improvisation and choreographic tasks to play with some of his current research ideas.

10am – 1pm – Mixed ability class
2pm – 5pm – Mixed ability class

Workshop times: 10am - 1pm OR 2pm - 5pm. There are two workshops per day, both treated equally but run at different times, to enable wider access.
