  • Two hands linked on a concrete floor.

To celebrate Refugee Week, we are collaborating with Refugee Support Group for a special screening of Hostile, followed by a panel discussion with special guests.

Hostile is an award-winning feature-length documentary focusing on the UK’s complicated relationship with its migrant communities. Told through the stories of four participants from Black and Asian backgrounds, the film focuses on the impact of the evolving “hostile environment” policies, which are designed to make living conditions so difficult for migrants that they voluntarily leave the country.

The film explores how the lives of international students, members of the Windrush generation, and ‘Highly-Skilled Migrants’ have been affected. What does it mean to be British? What does it feel like to be told you don’t belong? This film seeks to hear these voices and inspire viewers to take action to create long-term change.

The time to act is now.

This special screening will be followed by a Q&A panel with special guests discussing the film and wider refugee issues.

Refugee Support Group has been helping refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in Berkshire since 1994. The charity supports people who have escaped war, violence and persecution, most recently from Ukraine and Afghanistan.

Every penny raised at this event will go to helping refugees in the local community.
