WILD by Motionhouse

Sunday 8th Aug 2021, Shaw House, Newbury

Free (booking required)

  • 5 people standing on individual grey poles.

Please note: there is limited availability for these performances.

WILD, the daring dance-circus production from Motionhouse, explores our disconnect with the natural environment.

In our modern lives, is the wild still shaping our behaviour? WILD creates an urban forest in the everyday of the city. Using the powerful physicality distinctive to Motionhouse, performers use dynamic choreography, acrobatic movement and hand-to-hand partnering to move through a forest of tall poles, which forms the striking set for WILD. From the top of the pole, life in the canopy looks down onto the forest floor - a dangerous world of unknown meetings.

Commissioned by Gulbenkian & ART31 and Birmingham Hippodrome (as part of the Hippodrome Associate Artist programme). Supported by Without Walls with commissioning from Freedom Festival Arts Trust, Hat Fair, and Out There International Festival of Circus & Street Arts. With additional backing from the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Foyle Foundation, The 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust, The Saintbury Trust and supported by The City of London Corporation.
