Young Film Programmers

Aged 18-25? Do you love watching films? Are you passionate about cinema? The Young Film Programmers scheme is offering the chance to understand all aspects of film programming, marketing, exhibition and distribution.

Working as a team you’ll have the opportunity to work from scratch to create three special film events in our cinema at the Corn Exchange. It will be a chance to develop skills in film programming, marketing and event management whilst meeting like-minded people who are passionate about film alongside meeting industry professionals in both film and theatre.


  • Learn about independent cinema programming, marketing and events management.
  • Work alongside professionals in film and theatre.
  • Meet like-minded, local people passionate about film.
  • Gain advice and connections with the BFI.
  • Plan, run, market and host film screenings in our cinema.
  • Discounted tickets to cinema screenings at the Corn Exchange.
  • Develop and strengthen employability, entrepreneurial and film curating skills.
  • A chance to influence what is seen at the Corn Exchange cinema through three special events.

What we ask from you:

  • Meet as a group twice a month at the Corn Exchange (Sept 2018-March 2019). First session Thursday 20 September 2018
  • Be passionate and engaged.
  • Work as a team to organise and run three separate cinema events.
