Infant Massage

Monday 11th Sep 2017 — Monday 4th Dec 2017, The Phoenix Resource Centre / Learning Centre

Full Price £60 (per family unit for six week course)

Over 6 weeks, IAIM practitioner Sophie Osgood will teach you a full-body massage routine for your baby, including gentle exercises and some yoga-based work for you!

Classes are completely baby-led, we ask permission from the babies before massage and follow their response, to help develop communication and feelings such as trust and respect. We always keep a check on our babies to make sure they are happy, notice what they may like and dislike. I welcome feeding, crying and sleeping babies in my classes!

A word from Sophie:

Within my classes there is a trusted circle, so parents can feel they can talk about anything without it leaving the space. Positive touch is essential for the healthy development of all babies and massage can start from birth, but I feel it is best to start when mum and baby feel confident. As a parent, your gaze, soothing voice and unique scent is special to your baby; you are the only one who massages them; I have a doll for demonstration. Massaging your baby may help with the relief of colic, wind and constipation as well as providing a wonderful opportunity to bond, express your love and learn to understand your child’s needs. Within in the class I also chat about a variety of theory to do with both massage and development.
