Our Song is a music project which explores singing, percussion, instruments and movement. It supports people in various settings with a variety of needs to gain access to the benefits that music can bring to their general wellbeing.
This 8 x weekly music project is currently being delivered at The Diamond Centre, a day centre for people with brain injuries and is for adults of all ages. Our Song brings together group singing and improvised music making.
Over the course of 8 x 1 hour sessions, a group of around 12-20 participants engage in joyous music making led by an experienced musician, music teacher and facilitator. The project uses a mixture of call and response singing and playing, improvisation, composition, listening exercises, exploration of instruments and movement and dancing to get everyone joining in, we use themes to start conversations and encourage reminiscence to get people thinking and singing the songs they love as a group.
