Why this project?
Our team are often invited to judge your house performing arts competitions and are always blown away by the talent. We want to celebrate that talent by inviting the winners of your dance, drama and music competitions to compete with other House winners from other schools. Of course winning is lovely, but mainly we want to give your students the opportunity to perform their brilliant pieces again, as well as see some of the other fantastic work that is being created by their peers in other schools.
The project aims to:
- Celebrate talent in West Berkshire
- Encourage young people to be critical of their work and give them skills for improvement
- Share work across schools
- Elevate creative work through professional creative and technical support
- Support and encourage the next generation of creatives
How does the project work?
We invite the winners of your House Dance, Drama and Music competitions to perform on the stage at the Corn Exchange, competing with winners from similar competitions from other schools in the area.
Each group will be able to present up to 10 minutes of material (this may mean that they need to cut down their original piece).
Each group will also get an optional hour-long session with a practitioner to give them some hints and tips on developing the piece and readying it for the performance. The practitioner will also use this time to work with the group on transferring the technical elements of the piece.
On the day of the performance, each group will be allocated a technical rehearsal slot.
The group will perform to a panel of judges, all of whom are professionals from the creative industries. The judges will then choose:
Best Dance Performance
Best Drama Performance
Best Music Performance
What is the cost?
£50 for one group
£75 for 2 groups
£100 for 3 groups
The price includes the group’s one hour session with a practitioner, full technical support on the show day and 2 Headteacher complimentary tickets to see the show.
