For the first time there will be a Captioned Performance of this year’s pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.
This is in addition to our offering of Relaxed, BSL Signed and Audio Described performances, which ensure that West Berkshire families have the opportunity to enjoy their visit and the pantomime in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The Captioned Performance on Wednesday 2 January, 2pm will provide those who are deaf, deafened and hard of hearing the chance to have full access and enjoy this wonderful family tradition. As well as the spoken and sung words, the captions on stage will include additional information such as speaker names, sound effects and offstage noises.
The Corn Exchange will also offer a Relaxed Performance on Friday 4 January, 2pm, an adapted version of the pantomime that is suitable for anyone on the Autistic Spectrum, with Alzheimer’s and dementia, learning disabilities and/or sensory and communication needs. Ahead of the performance there are optional free Familiarisation Visits (Monday 17 December, 2pm & Tuesday 18 December, 11am), to enable audience members to acquaint themselves with the theatre and a free ‘visual story’ will explain what happens during the show. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01635 582666 to book onto these visits.
