Adult Theatre Classes: Skill Up and Show Off!

Angled close-up of a book that is held open with a pair of female hands.

We are extremely excited to be adding two new theatre courses for adults to the Spring programme at the Learning Centre, all kicking off in January!

First up is Theatre Skills, a relaxed and friendly group giving beginners and improvers alike the chance to hone performance skills and learn techniques for creating theatre. Leading Theatre Skills is the amazing Professor Andy Kempe, and to say that Andy is an expert is a bit of an understatement! With over 30 years of experience of teaching drama and training teachers, as well as authoring dozens of books, Andy has a huge amount of knowledge to impart and we are delighted to have him on board to deliver these sessions.

Next, join us for the Corn Exchange Community Theatre Makers, where you can put those newly developed skills to good use as you work with other participants to make the theatre that interests and excites you. These longer sessions take place fortnightly to allow time for our best ideas to bubble up, and will be facilitated by our friendly Learning and Participation team here at the Corn Exchange. The team, who have a host of different creative backgrounds, will be there to guide you, but ultimately the direction the group takes will be led by the participants in the room, meaning the group will be tailored to your interest, likes and abilities.

Anything else you need to know? Well, the sessions are open to anyone aged 18 and over and there is absolutely no experience necessary! The sessions are about having fun, meeting new people, being creative and challenging yourself. We promise a non-judgemental environment and experienced staff to help you realise your creative potential. Attend one or both, we’d love for you to join us.
