I hope you are all well and that you are enjoying seeing the first hints that spring is on its way with the bulbs popping up and the evenings starting to feel lighter.
At the Corn Exchange we have been working hard, liaising with producers and our touring partners, so we can bring you live entertainment this year, even if we don’t quite know when that will be at the moment. We are busy planning indoor performances and outdoor events, seeking out the best films, preparing our programme of workshops and classes, and scheduling exhibitions into the gallery at The Base. Like everyone, we are waiting for more information on when the arts industry might be able to reopen. With no confirmed date at this stage, we have had to take the decision to cancel or reschedule all in person events taking place up until the end of March. If you had tickets booked for any events due to take place during this period, you should already have received an e-mail from us about these arrangements.
We are continuing to run a selection of online activities, such as our weekly drama sessions for young people, Tai Chi Qigong, Pilates and Afternoon Art. During the February half term we will also be offering activity for young people with our daily Wake Up Shake Up sessions. Each of the five sessions will have a different theme – dancing, singing, acting, making and relaxing – so you can either choose the ones best suited to your little ones or sign up to all five at a discounted rate.
Over at our 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, the team continues to work with artists to support the development of work for outdoor spaces, as well as seeking out exciting performances that we can bring to Newbury as part of our outdoor programme. We will share more information about this in due course.
In the meantime, thank you so much for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to being able to welcome you back just as soon as this is possible.
