Take Part in a Celebration of Newbury's History

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in our next large scale outdoor event.

You don’t need any specific experience but will need to be happy working outdoors in all weathers and enjoy being part of a team.

As part of the 2018 Circus250 celebrations (a celebration of the past 250 years of circus in this country) the Corn Exchange, 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space, West Berkshire Museum and Circus Archive have teamed up to remember the life and times of Newbury’s famous impresario ‘Lord’ Sanger.

George Sanger was one of England’s most successful showmen, staging extravagant parades and attracting thousands of people to his spectacular shows.

Starting off a fantastic new exhibition at West Berkshire Museum will be an outdoor show with puppetry on a grand scale in tribute to Sanger's magnificent parades.

Event stewarding on Saturday 2 June

Taking part in the giant puppet parade on Saturday 2 June, with 1 or 2 rehearsals in the week beginning Monday 28 May

No experience required and full training will be provided.

We are excited about working with volunteers from all of Newbury’s diverse community whatever your background, age, identity and ability.
