Half Term Fun at the Corn Exchange

From spectacular live shows, to festive arts workshops and family sing-a-long sessions, we have plenty on offer to keep all the family busy this October half term.

Little ones aged 3+ and their grown-ups can join us this half term as award-winning author Nick Sharratt's much loved children's books are brought to life in a fin-tastic stage adaptation of Shark in the Park on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 October (various times). Seamlessly merging Shark in the Park, Shark in the Dark and Shark in the Park on a Windy Day, this show follows six year old Timothy Pope, his brand new telescope and his Elvis loving Dad on their adventures to find a shark. Full of songs, colour, comedy and interaction, as well as funny asides for the grown-ups, this show is an entertaining half term treat for the family.

Firm family favourite Nick Cope: Family Music will take over our auditorium on Saturday 28 October, for a delightful hour of interactive songs about everything from counting to how plants grow, perfect for little ones aged 8 and under, and their adults.

Young artists aged 9-12 can head to our new Learning Centre to create some of the festive artwork that will deck our halls this December, in our Panto Art Installation, led by our official Corn Exchange pantomime artist, Simon Jardine. There will be three, day long sessions, from Wednesday 25 - Friday 27 October; participants of all abilities can join for one, two or all three days of fun.

Adults don't have to miss out on this fun, arty opportunity as Simon will also be running Panto Caricatures, a session for all ages and abilities on Saturday 28 October. Come along with friends, family or on your own, and learn how to draw caricatures in Simon's distinctive style, with some extra festive flare.

And for adults who fancy some entertainment of their own this half term, BBC Radio 4 comedy favourite Jeremy Hardy will return to the stage on Saturday 21 October; fathers of folk-rock, Fairport Convention will play hits from their extensive repertoire, as they bring their 50th Anniversary Tour to Newbury on Tuesday 24 October; and professional grumpy old woman, Jenny Eclair returns on Friday 27 October with her hit show, How To Be A Middle Aged Woman (Without Going Insane).

We truly have something for everyone this October half term!
