Lanterns light up town

This afternoon saw our 8th annual Festival of Light: Lantern Procession light up Newbury's the town centre; and whilst the rain and snow might've dampened the pyrotechnics, our community still came together to have fun and celebrate the festive season. Thank you to those who came and we hope you enjoyed the event!

This evening's Procession was just the tip of the iceberg though, as over the last few months, over 900 lanterns were made by local schools, community groups and participants at our free public lantern making workshops.

You may have noticed collection buckets at the parade, and we thank everyone who made a donation. We need the continued support of all our audiences and the local community to keep doing all the brilliant work we do, like staging the Lantern Procession and other exciting outdoor performances in the heart of Newbury, for free.

For the next 48 hours we are asking you, and everyone we know, to make a suggested donation of £5 to support us in continuing to make a positive difference to people’s lives through the arts.

To make a donation you can:

Phone our Box Office on 0845 5218 218*

Text CORN15 £5 to 70070

What's more, from 1 September 2016, for the next three years, Arts Council England will be matching all new donations – doubling the impact of your gift!

Thank you so much for your support, our audiences and the local community are at the heart of everything we do.

The Corn Exchange’s Outdoor Events programme is supported by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England.
