Pantomime audiences show their support for Save Your Corn Exchange

Over the Christmas period we welcomed nearly 20,000 people to Jack and the Beanstalk, and we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our audiences. Collections took place at the end of each performance and, in total £16,365.60 was donated towards the Save Your Corn Exchange campaign.

From April 2019, we will lose all of our funding from West Berkshire Council. We are asking audiences, participants and supporters to commit £2 a month towards the running of the Corn Exchange with a fundraising target of £150,000 a year. Since its launch in October, the campaign has raised £61,000.

Our director Grant Brisland said: ‘The staggering amount donated by our pantomime audiences is testament to just how much the community values the Corn Exchange. As we enter the post-panto blues we feel enormous pride that the community continues to respond positively to all the work we do; thank you to everybody who supports us.’

Our programme of work engages with over 130,000 people a year through our live performances, learning and participation activities and free outdoor events.

Those who wish to sign up to giving a monthly donation should visit www.saveyourcornexchange.com to complete a direct debit form or call 01635 582666 to talk to a member of the development team; alternatively, paper copies of the form can be picked up from the Corn Exchange Box Office.
