What to expect from your visit to us this autumn. Updated 23/7/21
We are committed to ensuring our venue is accessible to all those who wish to visit us or attend our events and the feedback we have received from those who have attended over the summer has been very positive. We are so grateful for all the support and good will we’ve received over the last 18 months and we want to ensure everyone continues to feel welcome as we reopen. As we move into our autumn season, the comfort and protection of our visitors, volunteers and staff members remains our priority and we will be keeping various mitigation measures in place and are awaiting more guidance on the use of Covid Passports for theatre venues.
Wearing a face covering helps to protect those around you and reduce the spread of coronavirus.
We understand that not everyone is able to wear a face covering but, if you are, we kindly ask you to please continue wearing one when you are in our buildings for the protection and comfort of our visitors and also our staff members and volunteers who keep our buildings open and running. This includes when you are watching a show or visiting an exhibition at The Base.
We also ask you to consider wearing a face covering on arrival at our outdoor events but this can be removed once you are seated.
We will be changing our auditorium seating back into its original configuration ready for the autumn season and we will no longer be using Perspex screens between bookings. Instead, for most of our performances, we will be using a reduced capacity formation.
For the following performances we will be adjusting the seating layout to leave a single space on each side of all bookings:
- Sarah and Duck
- In the Sea There are Crocodiles
- War of the Worlds
- Not Lady Chatterley’s Lover
- Apollo Big Band
- London Rhymes
- Nick Cope
- Crimes in Egypt
- The Great Gatsby
- Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure
- Tokyo Rose
- The Tiger Who Came to Tea
- Abigail’s Party
Some of our performances will have standard, full capacity seating in the stalls but the balcony will have a single space left on either side of all bookings. These performances are:
- Ladyboys of Bangkok
- Some Guys Have all the Luck
- The Comedy Network
- Mad About the Musicals
- Big Girls Don’t Cry
- Pete Firman
- Abba Forever
- Cavern Beatles
- Islands in the Stream
- UK Fleetwood Mac
- The Story of Soul
A few of shows will be sold at full capacity without social distancing as most of these are performances which had gone on sale some time ago in this format. As a publicly funded organisation, we need to ensure everyone, including those who are disabled or clinically extremely vulnerable, can attend if they wish. If you would like to come to one of the following performances but would not be able to attend unless a space was left either side, please contact our Box Office team to discuss your booking.
- Ed Byrne
- Iain Stirling
- Paul Zerdin
Our pantomime, Cinderella
Cinderella will be moving into the standard, full capacity configuration but, in order to ensure everyone who wishes to attend feels comfortable to do so, we will be offering at least one fully socially distanced performance each week. For these we will be leaving rows empty and will be leaving spaces either side of each booking. We have temporarily taken our pantomime off sale while we contact those who have already booked tickets and hope to have it back on sale in early August.
How to book
For performances where a space has been left between bookings, we will be using a bubble booking method. Seats will be available in bubbles of different group sizes and you will need to select the one that is appropriate for your booking. Seats that are available are shown in red and those that have already been booked, or that have been left free for distancing, are shown in grey.
You must select a bubble which fits with your group size otherwise the system will not proceed with the booking. For example, if you try to book two seats in a bubble which is designed for four, the booking will not go through and you will need to select a bubble of two seats. If you require a bubble size which is not available please contact the Box Office and they will assist with your booking.
Book with confidence
It is still very important that you do not attend events if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. If you have been told to self-isolate or are displaying symptoms of Covid-19, please contact the Box Office and we will arrange a transfer, a credit to your Corn Exchange account or a refund if you are not able to attend as long as you tell us before the event start time.
Test and Trace
If you would like to check in using the NHS Covid-19 app, we display the Test and Trace QR code. Alternatively you can leave contact details with us which we be stored securely and destroyed after 21 days.
If you have any questions please e-mail the Box Office at email@example.com
or call 0845 5218 218 (calls cost 2p per minute plus your telephone company’s access charge).
We look forward to welcoming you to the Corn Exchange soon.
