Vision5 Art Exhibition

See the work of five artists working in North Hampshire and West Berkshire in their group exhibition exploring the theme Timeless Tradition.

Vision5 is an art collective that honours traditional art forms in a contemporary setting, combining traditional techniques and modern narratives to create contemporary artworks.

Vision5 came together to celebrate different styles of art whilst exploring the common themes of colour, light, texture, emotion, atmosphere and movement. In doing so they explore the exciting diversity of artistic techniques and range of media, including inks, acrylics, oils and pastels, brought together by a unifying theme. The group work within North Hampshire and West Berkshire and they are active within the community; being part of local art groups and enjoy demonstrating and teaching within the community and online.

As part of the exhibition each artist will take it in turns to paint in the gallery and would be happy to talk to visitors about their work.

Meet the Artists:

Jayne Perkins

Jayne Perkins finds her interest in landscape painting has led to a quest to interpret not only the visual beauty of landscapes but its texture, colour and form. She works in pastels which she finds help her to recreate more than just the surface beauty of landscapes and hopefully allows the onlooker to step onto the rocky crags or dip their hands into the cool water. She was elected as a member of the Pastel Society in 2024.

Joan Crawford

Joan Crawford is primarily an abstract painter, working in mixed media, making dynamic expressive art. Her work is inspired by the interplay of shapes, structures and light in the landscape and by her response to what she sees and feels. She holds onto that reaction and allows it to unconsciously guide the painting process. She believes that art is a great leveller enabling the viewer to be provoked, calmed and soothed.

Maggie Jackson

Maggie Jackson enjoys experimenting with inks, acrylics, watercolours, mixed media and collage. Her semi-abstract land and seascapes are colourful and full of movement. She was born in Cambridge in the austere years just after the Second World War, and showed an early interest in art. She was fortunate enough to win a school art competition and exhibited her work in Heffers Gallery in Cambridge town centre. She enjoys open water swimming all year round and several of her paintings are inspired by local lakes, where the beauty and tranquillity of her surroundings influence her work.

Christine Sharp

Christine Sharp works primarily in acrylics, painting a wide range of land and seascapes inspired by her childhood in the Yorkshire Dales and travels around the coast of the UK. Her style has moved towards semi-abstract over the years and she is inspired by the feeling of space and wildness found in our open moors and wild coasts.

Ann Hoddinott

Ann Hoddinott enjoys painting the natural world. Using acrylics, inks or oils, she describes a tangle of branches or wild flowers in the countryside or the weathered rocks by the sea. Recently she used her garden flowers for inspiration in a project on complementary colours and the way light interacts with the plants. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for painting through teaching art and its history.
