Celebrate National Craft Month at The Base this March

This March, The Base invites you to celebrate National Craft Month with their Master Crafter programme of workshops - a month-long extravaganza of creativity and connection.

From masterclasses to family-friendly workshops, their main gallery will be buzzing with opportunities to get hands-on, develop new skills, and enjoy the magic of crafting.

Throughout the month, The Base will be offering a wide range of workshops designed to inspire and engage crafters of all ages and skill levels. Participants over-18 can unleash their artistic side at Painting & Prosecco (Thursday 6 March), where they can sip and socialise with like-minded individuals. For those looking to recharge and refocus, the Creative Mindfulness: Rejuvenate (Saturday 8 March) session promises a reviving experience using a unique combination of experimental drawing and mindful meditation.

For those ready to try something new, explore the elegance of silk painting in a Crafternoon: Painting on Silk (Thursday 13 March) workshop; or dive into the precision crafting of papercutting with Crafternoon: Introduction to Papercutting (Thursday 27 March). You could even embrace the spirit of spring and learn to work with plants to create a handmade wreath in the Living Spring Wreath (Saturday 29 March) workshop.

For those wanting to refine their skills, The Base is offering expert-led 2-hour workshops in Portrait Masterclass (Saturday 15 March) and Life Drawing (Saturday 22 March), giving participants the chance to build confidence and hone their techniques – equally, beginners are very welcome! Traditional crafts take centre stage too in the Master Crafter programme, with workshops in Willow Frame Basket Making (Sunday 16 March), Mosaic Art Shard for the Garden (Sunday 23 March), and even Pysanky Ukrainian Egg Painting (Sunday 30 March), a unique and beautiful cultural tradition just in time for Easter.

Families can also join forces for the Family Collage Mural Workshop (Sunday 9 March), creating vibrant art together with artist Samantha Emmons, while young artists will have their time to shine in the dedicated Young Crafters (Saturday 22 March) workshop.

Each session is an opportunity to explore, create, and connect - whether that be with family, friends, or fellow enthusiasts. No matter if you are a seasoned artist or just curious to try something new, The Base’s Master Crafter event is the perfect way to embrace the joy of crafting this spring.

On top of this fantastic celebration of crafts at The Base this Spring, there are also an array of other exciting workshops, courses, exhibitions and talks available to explore. You can find out more about these and Master Crafter by visiting www.thebasegreenham.co.uk or calling the Box Office on 01635 522733.
