Newbury Sounds - Meet the Bands: Lizzie Cullen

A girl in black and white wears a dark jacket and looks up at a title in green that reads 'Newbury Sounds'

Get to know the bands who will be performing at our next fundraising event, Newbury Sounds!

Our next fundraising event for the Old Library Campaign is now just under a month away (Saturday 30 August)! We have spoken to each of the bands performing on the night to learn more about them and what to expect from their performance at Newbury Sounds

Next up is Lizzie Cullen. Here's what they had to say:

What genre of music do you play?

I’m a singer/songwriter, so I play mostly my own songs when I can. I would say they are closest to pop.

Who is your biggest musical inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is a pianist and composer called Ludovico Einaudi who I have seen many, many times, but from the moment I first heard his music, his passion and musicality have definitely inspired my piano playing. I am also a fan of Coldplay for their lyricism and melodies.

What’s the song you’re most excited to play at Newbury Sounds?

I’m most excited to play a song I wrote called I Like the Sound of the Rain, and I can’t wait to play it live on stage!

Do you have any memories connected to the Corn Exchange?

I’ve always thought of the Corn Exchange as being a beautiful building, and to be honest, the other Newbury Sounds gigs were pretty amazing memories, making me so excited to be able to be involved in this one and to play on the stage.
