What's on this Easter at the Corn Exchange, Learning Centre and The Base

There is plenty to do and see this Easter at the Corn Exchange Newbury, with three fantastic family shows and two hilarious comedy nights for the adults to enjoy. First comes There’s a Monster in Your Show (Tuesday 2 – Friday 5 April) with an interactive adventure following little ones’ favourite characters from writer Tom Fletcher’s much loved Who’s in Your Book series. With beautiful original music and playful puppets this will be the perfect way to start the school break. Additionally, there will be a show-themed bake sale on Friday 5 April. Expect monster-themed bakes, Easter-themed treats and vegan and gluten free options too. All funds raised will go towards the Old Library Campaign to help the Corn Exchange redevelop the historic building on Cheap Street as a new creative space for the community.

In the second week of the Easter holidays we have, another show that is perfect for families, The Museum of Marvellous Things (Thursday 11 April), written by Kristina Stephenson, creator of Sir Charlie Stinky Socks. With giant puppets, interactive storytelling, and foot-stomping original music, it's bound to be a firm favourite for children aged 3 and over. There is also a fun pre-show workshop available for this show, where children can craft their very own magical marvellous glitter jar from upcycled materials to inspire their imagination that they can then take home. If music is what you’re looking for this holiday, then Shape of You: The Music of Ed Sheeran (Saturday 13 April) could be the perfect choice to introduce young fans to the live concert experience. The afternoon performance features music from throughout Ed Sheeran’s career as well as a set of George Ezra hits.

There will be laughs aplenty for the adults too this Easter holiday starting with The Comedy Network (Friday 5 April). The April line-up includes the hilarious Stuart Goldsmith, Cecily Hitchcock, Micky Overman, and Micheal Akadiri. Critically acclaimed comedian, actor and satirist, Rosie Holt returns to the Corn Exchange on Friday 12 April with her brand-new show, Rosie Holt: That's Politainment! Political-satirist Rosie Holt explores current political trends audiences will too often recognise, as she brings some much-needed comic relief to them.

Over at the Learning Centre children aged 4 to 11 can take part in the popular Create and Make (Monday 8 – Friday 12 April) holiday club. Running from 10am to 4pm they will get the chance to try their hand at arts, crafts, drama activities and more!

Over the Easter weekend the Corn Exchange Café Bar and Cinema will be open on Saturday 30 March. Relax and enjoy a delicious drink, some tasty food and perhaps a sweet treat from the Café Bar while the little ones take part in an Easter egg hunt around the Corn Exchange building. There is also a selection of film screenings for all ages, including The Amazing Maurice, Wonka, One Life and NT Live: Dear England.

This prestigious photography event showcases breathtaking images from all areas of the natural world to educate and inspire all those who visit. Over the Easter holidays, The Base is extending their opening hours of this exhibition to Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm and there’s even an arty Easter egg hunt around the building for the whole family to enjoy together. Refuel at the Honesty Cafe at The Base where, alongside their usual delicious fare, they will be offering a free carton of juice if you purchase a hot drink and show your exhibition ticket.

The Base also has some fantastic arts and crafts workshops for children and families over the Easter break including Children’s Easter Printmaking (Saturday 30 March) and Create Your Own Scribble Monster T-shirt (Saturday 13 April). You can find out more and book at thebasegreenham.co.uk
