Name a Seat in the Old Library

Be the first to name one of the brand-new seats in the Old Library studio theatre! 

For a minimum donation of £500 a plaque engraved with your chosen name or message (terms and conditions apply*) will be fixed to your chosen seat for 5 years. 

Can you help? 

We still need to raise £100,000 to complete the Old Library project, and naming a seat is a very personal way for you to support the campaign – whether it’s in your own name, a business name, in memory of a loved one or as a gift for someone special.  

Every penny raised from the appeal will go towards the Old Library campaign to help us reopen this historic building as a space devoted to using creative activity to improve the emotional, physical and mental wellbeing of our community.  

Choosing a seat  

You can use the plan below to explore how the seating will be arranged in the Old Library subject to final designs. There are a limited number of seats available, so don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to be part of the reopening of this much-loved building.

Terms and Conditions 

  • Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

  • Seats named by businesses will be subject to VAT (£500 plus VAT per seat).

  • Your chosen name and/or message can be up to a maximum of 44 characters arranged over 2 lines (including spaces). 

  • You will be sent a proof of your chosen name or message to sign, to confirm that you are happy with the spelling and layout. Corn Exchange Newbury reserve the right to approve wording of acknowledgements and plaques. 

  • Plaques will remain in situ for 5 years from the date of opening the building to the public.

  • Plaques will be visible when seating is configured for live performance. Studio theatre seats will be retracted whilst the space is used for engagement activity. 

  • Naming a seat is a charitable donation and does not include admission to individual performances or events. 

  • You will be invited in to see your plaque once it is in place.

  • Naming a seat does not guarantee the recipient will be able to choose this seat when booking tickets or provide any advanced booking privileges.

  • With your permission we will acknowledge you as an Old Library Name a Seat donor on the Corn Exchange website.

  • An option to pay in instalments is available, with all payments to be complete by autumn 2025.
