Newbury Sounds - Meet the Bands: Number of the Beef

Get to know the bands who will be performing at our next fundraising event, Newbury Sounds!
Our next fundraising event for the Old Library Campaign is now just under a month away (Saturday 30 August)! We have spoken to each of the bands performing on the night to learn more about them and what to expect from their performance at Newbury Sounds.
Next up is Number of the Beef. Here is what they had to say:
What genre of music do you play?
We play classic rock, metal and grunge covers. Expect to hear us play tunes by Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, The Darkness, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath and more.
Who is your band’s biggest musical inspiration?
Well that song/album by Iron Maiden was the inspiration for our name. Musically every song we cover has inspired or been a soundtrack to at least one of us at some point in our lives and musical careers. We just try to pay homage as best we can by covering their tunes.
What’s the song you’re most excited to play at Newbury Sounds?
Tough to pick but we always enjoy playing Number Of The Beast. We guarantee the last song in our set will be one to sing along to as well, anyone who’s seen us before will know what we’re talking about.
Do you have any memories connected to the Corn Exchange?
Plenty. I saw Funeral for a Friend, Reuben, Hell Is For Heroes, Sikth, Murder One, Drive Us Against, Capdown, Earthtone9, Matter, Minus and Charger play the old Salvage nights there back around the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
One of my old bands, Immodestia were lucky enough to play the Waterside Battle Of The Bands final at the Corn Exchange back in 2002 as well.
I’ve got many fond memories of the place and it’s fantastic that these kind of band nights are happening again under the Newbury Sounds banner.
