Panto Cast under the Spotlight: Emily-Mae
Under our spotlight is Emily-Mae, who played Pippi in Royal and Derngate’s Pippi Longstocking, and is Celia Siri in Aladdin. We caught up with her as she tells us all about her lockdown obsession and why she loves pantomime...
Have you been in a pantomime before? What is your favourite thing about performing in one?
I’ve never been in a pantomime before, which makes me all the more excited to be in Aladdin! I can’t wait to get started and have some Christmas magic in Newbury.
Do you have any memories of being taken to see pantomimes as a child?
I went to the pantomime every year at the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley. I loved a trip to theatre anyway but pantomime cheering and getting thrown sweets from the cast made it all the more special.
What have you been doing this year to keep yourself creative? Have you taken up any new hobbies?
I had a go at too many activities this year (I don’t like being bored). Like most, I got obsessed with making banana bread. I also enjoyed getting stuck into jigsaws (I am fun I promise!).
What is your favourite Christmas song?
My favourite Christmas song is I Wish it could be Christmas Everyday that is on repeat in my car from December 1st.
Thanks Emily-Mae, welcome aboard your first pantomime! We can't wait to give you a big Newbury welcome.
