A season of family fun
This spring, we're welcoming families to a joyful season of live theatre, packed with much-loved characters, laugh-out-loud moments and unforgettable experiences for audiences of all ages.
From bestselling books brought vividly to life, to rock-and-roll dinosaurs and outrageously revolting science, the spring programme promises fun, creativity and excitement for the whole family.
Leading the line-up is the Tom Gates EPIC Stage Show (Saturday 14 February), which brings the hugely popular world of Liz Pichon’s bestselling books straight to the stage. Bursting with catchy tunes, clever storytelling and hilarious performances, this high-energy production captures everything fans love about Tom Gates, from the iconic illustrations to the music and mischief. Whether you’re a devoted reader, a fan of the TV series, or discovering Tom and his friends for the first time, this is pure family fun from start to finish.
Younger audiences will be enchanted by The Gruffalo’s Child (Friday 13 to Sunday 15 March), Tall Stories’ magical adaptation of the beloved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. On a wild and windy night, the Gruffalo’s Child bravely ventures into the deep dark wood, following snowy tracks and encountering mysterious creatures along the way. Filled with songs, laughter and gentle thrills, this beautifully told production is perfect for everyone aged 3 to 103.
Families can also join in the fun before the show with a special pre-show workshop (Sunday 15 March), creating their own Gruffalo puppet to take home. To make the show as welcoming and accessible as possible, The Gruffalo’s Child offers two types of access performances. A British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted performance will take place on Friday 13 March at 1.30pm, allowing BSL users to fully enjoy the laughter, music, songs and storytelling through a skilled interpreter. And, a Relaxed Performance will be held on Sunday 15 March at 11am, designed for anyone who may benefit from a more relaxed theatre environment, with adjusted sound and lighting levels, reduced capacity and the freedom to move, make noise, or come and go as needed.
Adding a burst of noisy, naughty fun to the season is The Dinosaur That Pooped: A Rock Show (Saturday 28 March). Adapted from the number one bestselling book by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter (McFly), this brand-new stage adventure sees Danny and Dino racing against time to get tickets to their favourite band’s final concert. With a villainous band manager, new songs by Tom and Dougie, and Dino’s rumbling tummy threatening chaos, this Easter holiday treat is packed with laughs, music and of course, a whole lot of poo.
The Eras Experience: Taylor Swift Tribute by Xenna (Sunday 29 March) is a spectacular, celebration of one of the world’s biggest pop icons. Bringing Taylor Swift’s music, style and stage magic to life, Xenna delivers an electrifying live performance that spans all 12 eras, from beloved classics like Love Story, Blank Space, and Shake It Off to recent favourites including Fortnight and tracks inspired by The Tortured Poets Department. Packed with sing-along moments, dazzling costumes, and high-energy choreography, this unforgettable tribute offers a fun, family-friendly concert experience that captures the excitement of an Eras Tour and invites fans of every generation to sing, dance, and celebrate together. VIP ticket holders can also make the experience even more special with an exclusive post-show meet and greet with Xenna herself.
Rounding off the family offerings in the spring programme is The Utterly Revolting Science Show (Tuesday 31 March), a spectacularly silly and highly explosive science stunt show from the Rude Science team. Expect burp biology, fart physics, revolting edible chemistry and outrageous experiments designed to delight young audiences while secretly inspiring a fascination with science. Before the show, families can also take part in a hands-on pre-show workshop, creating their own disgustingly colourful slime dough.
With captivating performances, interactive pre-show workshops and stories families know and love, our spring family programme offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy unforgettable theatre experiences together.
