Cinema

Housed on the top floor of the Corn Exchange we have a cosy, digital cinema, which specialises in arthouse, British and independent cinema.

With its cosy style and just 40 seats, our cinema shows the best of arthouse, independent and British films every day, together with occasional blockbusters and family films. Since opening in 2007 it has gained a loyal audience and remains a popular addition. There are weekly special screenings including Silvers Screens for over-60s, Parent & Babies screenings, subtitled screenings and family films. We regularly present Relaxed screenings and foreign language films, as well as monthly Dementia Friendly screenings and a popular Ageing Creatively Film Club.

SILVER SCREEN

This is a weekly screening dedicated to the over-60s (usually Tuesdays at 2.30pm). Please click here for further information and forthcoming silver screenings.

PARENTS & BABIES SCREENINGS

This is a weekly screening especially for parents and carers with babies under 18 months (usually Tuesdays at 10.15am). Please click here for further information about Parent and Baby screenings.

RELAXED SCREENINGS

Relaxed screenings are designed for those on the autism spectrum or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed cinema environment. The soundtrack volume is reduced and low lights are left on and it’s fine to make noise or move around. Please click here to find out more on our Access page.

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY SCREENINGS [link]

Dementia Friendly screenings are designed to meet the needs of people living with dementia along with their families and carers. During the screening, lights are left on low, the sound is reduced, and audiences can feel free to move around (or sing along to any musical numbers they know) to offer a more relaxed cinema environment. There is also a short comfort break in the middle of the film. Please click here to find out more about our Dementia Friendly Screenings [link]
