Cinema
Housed on the top floor of the Corn Exchange is our cosy 40-seat cinema. Open six days a week, we show the best of contemporary and classic cinema, including arthouse, independent and family films, blockbusters, and live screenings of theatre, dance and music performances. Our cinema is the perfect place to come to switch off and perhaps enjoy some refreshments from our Café Bar. We also offer regular special screenings, see below for more information:
Silver Screen Screenings
Our weekly Silver Screens are dedicated showings for over-60s. These Tuesday screenings, which usually occur at 2.30pm, provide a comfortable and relaxed environment offering an opportunity to enjoy the latest blockbusters or classic films.
Subtitled Screenings
Our Subtitled screenings feature English language captions throughout the film. These captions provide a transcription of the film's audio, including both dialogue and non-dialogue sounds. This ensures that people who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, or anyone who benefits from reading along can fully enjoy and understand the film. These screenings are also helpful for those who have English as a second language, making the film experience more accessible to everyone.
Relaxed Screenings
Our Relaxed screenings offer a sensory-friendly cinema environment. These screenings are specifically tailored for a neurodivergent audience and those who may benefit from a more relaxed cinema environment. The screenings ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, as the lights are left on at a low level, the volume levels are lower than usual, and you are free to make noise or move around. Parent & Babies Screenings
Join us for our weekly Parent & Babies screenings, usually Thursdays at 2.30pm. These screenings are exclusively for parents and carers with babies under 18 months and provide a friendly and relaxed cinema environment where your baby is able to make noise and move around. Each screening costs just £6.30 which includes a ticket for your child. You’ll notice when you book every other seat is greyed out, this ensures you have extra space for you and your child to spread out and relax.
Tots Cinema Screenings
Our Tots Cinema screenings are perfect for toddlers and their grown-ups, and a great way to introduce little ones to the cinema. These sessions feature shorter films and are designed to be fun and accessible for toddlers, and a welcoming atmosphere for families.
Family Film & Craft Screenings
Our Family Film & Craft sessions are held every Saturday morning and provide a fun start to the weekend for families. Join us for these screenings for young children and their adults for just £3.50 a ticket! You can also purchase one of our fun Snack and Craft bags to enjoy alongside the film or take home with you.
Dementia Friendly Screenings
Our Dementia Friendly screenings are designed to meet the needs of people living with dementia along with their families and carers. These sessions offer a supportive and accessible environment with reduced sound levels and low lighting. During the screening, audiences are free to move around (or sing along to any musical numbers they know) to offer a more relaxed cinema environment. There is also a short comfort break in the middle of the film.
