Suzanne steps forward to deliver a confident talk about kindness. There is just one problem: her fifteen-year-old self has turned up - and she has no intention of sticking to the script.

Babushka is a new autobiographical drama exploring what happens when the childhood experiences we think we have buried refuse to remain silent. Moving between humour, memory and confrontation, an adult woman comes face to face with the teenager she left behind - and the lifelong impact of the bullying they both endured.

Written by and featuring Suzanne Pearson, this first rehearsed reading invites audiences into the development of a new play heading towards the Edinburgh Fringe in 2027.

The performance will be followed by an audience conversation, offering an opportunity to respond to the work and help shape what comes next.

Babushka also marks the first public step for The Babushka Project, a theatre-led initiative working with lived experience and educators to improve how childhood bullying - and its lifelong impact - is understood and addressed.
