Join us for this stunning winter event that brings the community together.

Be part of the Corn Exchange's Festival of Light and help transform Newbury town centre into a twinkling wonderland.

The procession will travel along Northbrook Street before arriving in the Market Place with live music and a festive atmosphere. In the run up to the event, we will be offering lantern making workshops with schools, community groups and the general public.

If you are taking part in the procession with your lantern, please arrive outside the Methodist Church from 3.45pm.

Join the community samba band for the Festival of Light 2024

Would you like to be part of the drumming troupe that leads the Festival of Light?

Workshops are led by Music Charity Readipop featuring experienced drummers from Beatroots Bateria who will guide you through the process of learning the samba instruments, rehearsing the patterns and routines and forming a marching drumming troupe to perform at two magical winter parades.

Workshops are free and are at 101 Outdoor Arts, Greenham Business Park, Newbury on:
•    Sunday 17 November 4pm-6pm
•    Sunday 24 November 4pm-6pm
•    Sunday 1 December 4pm-6pm
•    Saturday 7 December 4pm-6pm - warm-up & parade in Reading
•    Sunday 15 December 3.30pm-5.30pm - warm-up & parade in Newbury

Suitable for anybody aged 12+ (under 18's accompanied by a participating adult) No previous experience required.
