Michael Foyle and Maksim Štšura, critically acclaimed for their live performances and recordings of works from the 17th Century to the present day, came together in 2012 and won the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition and the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Duo Competition in 2015.

For tonight’s recital in the iconic venue of Englefield House’s Long Gallery, Michael and Maksim will perform three of the most popular violin sonatas in the repertoire: Beethoven’s fresh and vibrant ‘Spring Sonata’ sits alongside the poetic G major Sonata of Brahms, where the composer revisits the ‘Regenlied’ theme of one of his earlier songs. Franck’s evergreen work is possibly the jewel in the crown of the entire duo sonata repertoire.

Maksim Štšura: piano
