A painting with a blue and orange clouded sky on an easel in a field

Immerse yourself in the natural landscape and experience painting in the open air, under the guidance of Base resident artist Richard Francis Bellin.

Each week, we'll venture to a new, inspiring location, providing a unique environment to hone your artistic skills:

Week 1: Greenham Common - Heathland Horizons. We begin at the historic Greenham Common, meeting by the old radio tower. This former U.S. Army base, now a vast nature reserve, offers expansive flatlands and giant skies – perfect for capturing dramatic vistas.

Week 2: Combe Gibbet - Panoramic Views. Next, we'll tackle the striking Combe Gibbet on the Gallow Downs. Prepare to be inspired by magnificent, far-reaching views across both Berkshire and Hampshire.

Week 3: Thatcham Lakes - Mirrored Reflections. Discover the serene beauty of the Thatcham Lakes at the Nature Discovery Centre. Here, the tranquil waters perfectly mirror the surrounding trees and sky, offering stunning reflective scenes to paint.

Week 4: Frilsham Woods - Ancient & Atmospheric. Immerse yourself in the ancient and atmospheric Frilsham Woods. This historic woodland, with its tales of Princess Fridewide and a miracle healing well, boasts a rich variety of trees including ash, oaks, and pines, providing endless natural inspiration.

Week 5: The Base Festival of Arts and Crafts - A Burst of Colour! We'll conclude our artistic adventure amidst the vibrant energy of The Base's Festival of Arts and Crafts. Capture the bustling atmosphere, the riot of colours, the lively crowds, charming stalls, and festive buntings in a truly unique painting experience.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to connect with nature, explore Berkshire's hidden gems, and develop your plein-air painting techniques!
