Bring your sketchbook and explore the wondrous work of Yinka Shonibare.

Spend some time sketching directly from artworks in the exhibition with artist-printmaker Hannah Cantellow. Learn how to develop your sketches into ideas to create exciting woodcut prints and print them by hand onto beautiful Japanese papers.

Attendees will be encouraged to draw into their sketchbooks using dry materials such as pencil, pens and oil pastels. After visiting the exhibition together, we will share our insights and sketches, whilst looking at examples of woodcut prints. Attendees will have some time to select a concept and Hannah will demonstrate how to transfer a design, carve and print a woodcut by hand. By the end of the workshop attendees will have a range of woodcut prints and woodblocks to take home with them. We will be using non-toxic environmentally friendly printing inks.
