Get creative and have fun this summer at The Base! We’ve got spectacular assortment of arty activities for young people to enjoy this summer holiday.
Fun for under-7s...
It’s Peter Rabbit’s 120th birthday this year and so to celebrate we’ll be hosting The World of Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail in our gallery for children aged 7 and under to enjoy with their families. Little bunnies will be able to crawl under the garden gate, hide in a watering can and see their reflection in a mirror pool, just like Peter Rabbit, as well as getting involved with plenty of photo opportunities and crafty activities along the way!
Join one of our five special Saturday morning storytelling sessions with Merry-Go-Round Storytelling where the wonderful world of Peter Rabbit will be brought to life. Find out more
Peter Rabbit themed fun for 6 - 13 year olds...
Join artist Simon Jardine to create a Peter Rabbit and Friends Mural which will be displayed our Runway Gallery for visitors of The Base to enjoy!
Workshops are split into two age groups - WORKSHOPS FOR AGES 6 - 9: Thursdays 10am - 11am / Saturday 1pm - 2pm WORKSHOPS FOR AGES 10 - 13 Thursday 11.30am - 12.30pm / Saturday 2.30pm - 3.30pm
Young people aged 7 - 12 years can Create Your Own Storybook Character with Base Resident Artist, Ellie Kerr-Smiley on Wed 10 Aug or Sat 2 Sep. Ellie will use some art-games to help them to think of fun animal characters and stories, leading them to create watercolour paintings to bring their characters to life.
ARTY ACTIVITIES FOR AGES 6 - 13
Let your imagination run wild and create your own t-shirt design with illustrator and graphic designer Mark Bijak to Create Your Own Scribble Monster T-Shirt (Sat 23 Jul). Young people aged 6 – 13 years will use a variety of fun techniques to create their own one-of-a-kind monster masterpiece on paper which will then be printed onto a t-shirt to be collected later on after the workshop.

Following the success of our Half Term Art Clubs, we're thrilled to announce that we're running a SUMMER ART CLUB!
Children aged 6 - 11 years will get to experiment with different art techniques and creative projects. Even better, they do not need to be accompanied by an adult - so you can enjoy a moment of peace in Honesty at The Base and no-one will steal your cake!
