An Ode To... Mini Online Festival This Sunday
Put up the colourful bunting! Grab the fairy lights and hot dogs! Join us for a mini 30 minute festival all about the joys of parenting in lockdown.
Hey. What are you doing on Sunday? Fancy a mini festival vibe with your family?
I’m Sophie, I’m locked down with a three year old and a seven year old. Sarah is my producer on this project, my former flatmate, and she is locked down with a two year old and a golden retriever.
Lockdown has been an emotional rollercoaster for us all. Right?! Ups, downs, bursts of confidence, moments of absolute shambles. Sarah and I are convinced you’re all super heroes so we’ve been in touch with lots of different types of parents and carers and some little people too, to understand your experience of this bonkers time. I’ve then worked up a few little ditties based on these amazing people’s anecdotes, phrases, feelings and musical preferences, which we’re very excited to share with you this Sunday 31 May at 2pm on Facebook live. You can find the gig here.
Come along and enjoy the fun! Take us into your biggest space with your lovely little ones, some snacks... go crazy with bunting and disco lights if you’ve got ‘em. (Send us your festival vibe pics, ok?) It’ll be half an hour of laughs, singing, chatting, a little bottom wiggle - a chance to reconnect with your family and, hopefully, to feel a bigger connection to those parents in a similar position to you all across the UK right now.
Sending huge amounts of love, solidarity and SO MUCH of whatever cake you like best. See you Sunday? 😘

This performance is part of An Ode To... which saw parents and carers sharing their lockdown stories and thoughts with Sophie (The Point Associate Artist 2020) and Sarah (Filskit Theatre) via Zoom meet-ups or surveys. An Ode To... is one of five digital pieces of work that the Corn Exchange commissioned in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
