BASE WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED!
The Base has announced the winners of its ‘My Wild Life’ photography competition, which asked budding photographers of all ages to capture the wonders of wildlife and the natural world....
This was inspired by the Natural History Museum’s prestigious Wildlife Photography of the Year 58 exhibition which is coming to The Base from Friday 3 February to Sunday 26 March.
With hundreds of entries, the panel of expert judges (including Phil Canning from Newbury Weekly News, professional photographer Philip Tull and Paul Betchley, Living Collection Manager at Beale Wildlife Park) had a difficult task in whittling down the superb photographs to just 20 in each age category. It was then up to the general public in an online Facebook vote to decide their favourites.
In the over-18s category Emily Hall’s 'The Rising Swan' was the winner with second place going to Dave Woodcock’s photo of a kingfisher, titled 'Moment of Impact'. Harry Griggs (aged thirteen) was crowned winner of the under-18s category with his photograph of a group of piglets at a farm in Curridge, and Amber Karasinski (aged fifteen) was awarded second place with her photo 'Caterpillars'.
The over-18s winner will receive a Base Pass Plus, which gives them unlimited entry to The Base Gallery for a whole year, as well as discounts on selected workshops and courses, and under-18s will recieve a Family Base Pass.

All forty of the finalists’ pictures will be displayed in the Runway Gallery at The Base and is free to view (open daily between 3 Feb - 26 Mar) and we invite you to come up to The Base to enjoy them in person!
Featuring exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour and spectacular species, Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 58 and will run at The Base from Friday 3 February until Sunday 26 March.
