On Friday 14 March, Newbury Sounds will be taking to our stage in an exciting evening of live music, all in aid of the Old Library Campaign

Bringing together talented local artists, this special event promises a night of fantastic performances with plenty of community spirit, all while raising funds for the transformation of the historic Old Library building into a new home for our creative participation work.

Curated by local musician Ben Richardson, the event showcases a diverse line-up of talent. Ben is a member of A Dirty Soul who will be launching their debut EP, The Bloodline EP, and delivering a show packed with indie and rock ‘n’ roll influences from bands like BRMC, Nirvana, and Oasis.

Headlining alongside A Dirty Soul will be Revenant, a powerhouse rock band that burst onto the scene in 2023. Their high-energy sound, infused with a southern rock twist, has already been given critical acclaim, and their debut EP, What A Time To Be Alive, has been labelled a must-listen.

Joining them is the newly formed Sion Whiley Band, making their debut in Newbury with a fresh and vibrant energy that is sure to electrify the audience.

Adding to the night’s dynamic mix, Colorado River will bring their heartfelt blend of country and folk, a genre that was once considered niche in Newbury but has since found a passionate following. Formed in 2018 by Milena and Ken, and later joined by local musician Nathan Holland on drums, the band promises to deliver a performance filled with warmth and authenticity.

Also taking to the stage are Infinite Horse, a three-piece alt-rock act originally from Newbury and now based in Bristol. Comprising Greg Sharrett on guitars and vocals, Pete Edward on bass and vocals, and Adam King on drums, the band brings a raw and immersive energy, especially with their latest single, Thanks

All dressed in black, the singer puts both arms up, the guitarist to his left sings while playing and between them sits the drummer at the back of the stage

All proceeds from this incredible night will go to the Old Library Campaign. This campaign will fund the reopening of the historic Old Library, on Cheap Street in Newbury, transforming it into a thriving arts hub complete with dedicated engagement spaces, a small Café Bar, and places to gather.

With our creative participation programmes currently operating from a temporary shared space, the need for a permanent home is more urgent than ever. These programmes play a crucial role in reducing social isolation, improving mental health, and helping young people build confidence and self-esteem. The Old Library is the ideal venue to ensure that these life-changing initiatives continue and expand.
