Panto Cast under the Spotlight: William Beckerleg
We caught up with William Beckerleg, who has starred in a few pantomimes since he was a young actor. He will be joining the cast for his first Newbury pantomime as ensemble in Aladdin.
Have you been in a pantomime before? What is your favourite thing about performing in one?
I've been in pantomimes both as a kid and as an adult and my favourite thing is trying to make my cast mates laugh onstage!
Do you have any memories of being taken to see pantomimes as a child?
I have some faint memories watching panto as a young kid of singing, dancing, laughing, lights and glitter.
What have you been doing this year to keep yourself creative? Have you taken up any new hobbies?
Does cooking and eating food count?! Once a month my housemates and I cook loads of food we've never cooked before for each other and see what happens - I fully recommend this. I also tried learning the banjo - it wasn't successful...
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Eating too much chocolate and losing all the board games.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
In Dulci Jubilo is really underrated so I'll give that a shout out.
Thanks William, welcome to Newbury!
