See our auditorium transformed into the depths of the jungle as our Infant and Junior Youth Theatre present The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book text on a leafy green background featuring butterflies

The Corn Exchange's Infant and Junior Youth Theatre takes to the stage from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 August to present The Jungle Book, the story of a man cub and his jungle friends!

Over 90 young people aged 4 to 14 will be taking part in the production and the two casts have been rehearsing since April, working weekly with their Youth Theatre Leader alongside rehearsals with the Director, Nicky Griffiths.

The Jungle Book is a beloved tale and coming of age story about the desire for freedom, friendship, and courage, based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling, adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller. Supporting the show is a professional team of creatives, working alongside the Corn Exchange technical team. The show is directed by Nicky Griffiths, with set and costume design by Carl Davies and musical direction from Ben Barrow.

Director of The Jungle Book, Nicky Griffiths says ‘The Jungle Book is a well-loved story many of us know and this colourful production gives us a peek into the world that Rudyard Kipling wrote about. This wonderful team of young actors have been working incredibly hard (and having a lot of fun!) over the last few months. Come and meet the wonderful animals of the Indian Jungle and learn their master word. There will be wolf cubs, tigers and bears (oh my!) and some very, very cheeky monkeys! We promise you a magical story about family and friendship.’

This year the Youth Theatre’s production of The Jungle Book has been kindly supported by local Newbury business Rivar Ltd.

The Jungle Book runs at the Corn Exchange from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 August, with two casts performing over the 6 performances. For tickets or more information please contact the Box Office on 01635 522733 or click here.
