With the school year coming to a close and the summer holidays on the horizon, we’ve got a whole host of activities and events to keep your little ones entertained all summer long!

In our Auditorium will be the unmissable Museum of the Moon by UK artist Luke Jerram. This astonishing six-metre, to scale sculpture of the Moon is the visit of the season and a fantastic opportunity to introduce the wonders of space to moon-gazers of all ages! The internally-lit installation features a surround sound composition by BAFTA-winning composer Dan Jones for a stunning and profound art-meets-nature experience. Luke Jerram's Museum of the Moon is presented in partnership with Visit Newbury as part of their Festival of the Moon.

We have also just announced our wellbeing workshops under the moon which provide unique and rare relaxation for the whole family in a truly unique setting. Find out more about and try your hand at some of these family friendly activities:

In our Learning Centre this summer, our popular Create and Make sessions continue from Mon 31 Jul – Fri 4 Aug and then again Tue 29 Aug – Fri 1 Sep. These sessions provide your little ones with a whole week of exploring the creative arts, developing new skills and making new friends with professional practioners.

For aspiring actresses and actors, join our Summer Theatre School (Mon 14 Aug - Fri 18 Aug) led by practitioner Tabitha Dark to develop acting skills and students will perform a play at the end of the week for friends and family!

You can also come and enjoy current and classic films in our 40 seat cinema, keep an eye out for our new film season going on sale on Friday 14 July. Programmed with families in mind are our Family Film screenings and Tots Cinema showing films perfect for the whole family. Find all our screenings here.

For those who love to get messy and artistic, The Base is running a Summer Art Club (Mon 14 Aug - Thu 24 Aug) where children aged 6 - 11 can learn new skills and make friends whilst enjoying the nice and cool Gallery.

Alongside these workshops, are The Base's Summer Stories (Saturdays, 12 Aug, 19 Aug & 26 Aug). These interactive storytelling workshops bring a classic picture book to life each week, followed by a guided craft activity.
