This weekend the Festival of Light illuminates Newbury

On Sunday 14 December, Newbury town centre will be transformed into a twinkling festive wonderland by the annual Festival of Light procession.

This annual event brings together the whole community to kick start the festive season.

Over the past few weekends, attendees at our Lantern Making Workshops have been hard at work building lanterns for the event, with designs from the classic pyramid lantern to beautiful animals, ready for display during the procession.

If you have not made a lantern for the day, you can still come to soak up the atmosphere as the procession travels along Northbrook Street, culminating in the Market Place, where there will be live music and festive refreshments available.

The Festival of Light is free to attend, with no booking required and will take place this Sunday, 14 December. To take part with a lantern, meet by the Methodist Church on Northbrook Street at 4pm or simply come and admire at 4.30pm.

Part of the venue's regular annual outdoor arts programme of events, the Festival of Light is presented by the Corn Exchange and 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space and funded by Greenham Trust and Arts Council England.
