This summer: What will my visit be like?

What does this week's government announcement mean for us at the Corn Exchange?

Statement updated 6 July

At the Corn Exchange we have been reviewing the proposal to remove most Covid-19 restrictions from 19 July and how this will affect the way we present our events. While these changes to regulations will not be confirmed by the government until 12 July we wanted to explain what our planned approach will be.

We know audiences have purchased tickets based on the fact that certain mitigation measures were going to be in place and we are therefore committed to maintaining these for the summer season for the comfort and protection of our visitors, staff members and volunteers. We kindly ask you to consider Hands, Face, Space when coming into our buildings or attending events.

Seating

For indoor performances until the end of July, our auditorium will have socially distanced seating in place with a reduced capacity and Perspex screens placed between bookings.

For outdoor shows we will be leaving spaces between bookings as originally stated.

Face coverings

Wearing a face covering helps to protect those around you and reduce the spread of coronavirus.

We understand that not everyone is able to wear a face covering but, if you are, we ask you to please continue wearing one when you are in our buildings for the protection and comfort of our visitors and also our staff members and volunteers who keep our buildings open and running. We know we have visitors who have booked tickets for performances or events on the understanding that face coverings would be worn and we wish to respect this even though the plan is to remove the legal obligation. This includes when you are watching a show or visiting an exhibition at The Base.

We also ask you to consider wearing a face covering on arrival to our outdoor events but this can be removed once you are seated.

Capacity

We will be continuing to limit the number of people admitted to events during the summer based on the location and size of the space in which the event is taking place.

Café and Bar

Table service is no longer a requirement so you will now be able to take a seat indoors or outdoors and then place your order at the bar. We will of course assist if you need us to take your order from your table.

Has anything else changed?

We will no longer be required to ask you to scan the Test and Trace QR code or leave any additional details with us, other than those taken at the point of booking. To speed up the queues on arrival for events we will no longer be taking temperatures at the door.

Book with confidence

It is still very important that you do not attend events if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. If you have been told to self-isolate or are displaying symptoms of Covid-19, please contact the Box Office and we will arrange a transfer, a credit to your Corn Exchange account or a refund if you are not able to attend as long as you tell us before the event start time.
