A summer update on the Old Library

As you may have noticed internal building work has started at the Old Library.
Work has begun to install steel joists to extend the mezzanine, which once complete will have fixed seating for 40, in addition to the 60 seats in the main space below. Structural work has also taken place upstairs to open it up to become a dedicated space for creative workshops and sessions for all ages – ranging from dance and drama to art journaling and singing.
Watch the work unfolding at the Old Library in this timelapse:
In order to make this heritage building accessible to all, work has also begun to change the entrance to the building, making a new doorway to the side of the current entrance with an access ramp running along the front of the building with a push button/auto opening front door.
We are so excited to see the space starting to take shape and will share further photos as work progresses.
We’d like to thank all of our wonderful supporters who have helped us raise over £1.1m so far. We are continuing with our public fundraising campaign to raise the final £80,000 to complete the fit out of the building.
