The Baddies takes to our stage from Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 May. Based on the smash-hit story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and featuring songs by Joe Stilgoe (Zog and Zog and the Flying Doctors), The Baddies promises a wickedly hilarious theatrical treat. Meet a witch, a troll and an ancient ghost, the worst baddies in the world, as they compete to scare a fearless young girl. Brought to Newbury by Freckle Productions, who are pioneers in imaginative storytelling for children and the team behind a number of hugely popular stage hits including Stick Man, Tabby McTat, Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales, Zog and the Flying Doctors. This wonderful adaptation promises plenty of laughter, catchy songs and mischievous antics, this fun-filled show is the perfect outing for the whole family.
On Sunday 1 June, prepare for an electrifying experience with Top Secret: The Magic of Science. Brand-new for 2025, this high-energy show blends the mind-bending mystery of magic with the wonders of science. Audience members can expect a non-stop adventure packed with interactive experiments, colourful demonstrations and plenty of messy fun, all designed to captivate the imagination of young scientists and magic lovers alike. Families can also take part in a special pre-show workshop in the Corn Exchange’s Balcony Bar to get hands-on before the magic begins.

Meanwhile, the Learning Centre is the place to be for children who love getting creative. Running from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 May, Create and Make invites young participants to explore arts and crafts, drama and more under the expert guidance of professional practitioners. The theme of the week for the May half term sessions is City Breaks, allowing children to imagine jetting off to a different city each day. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to develop new skills, build confidence and make new friends in a fun and supportive environment during the school holiday.
Over at The Base on Greenham Business Park, budding artists are invited to join their Holiday Art Club from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 May. Led by artist Libby Witney, each session during the week offers a fantastic chance to experiment with a variety of art techniques. Each day brings a new creative adventure - from animated drawings of moving creatures to crafting cardboard cupcakes, or colourful yarn birds to vibrant sun catchers - ensuring young imaginations stay inspired all week long.
