Don't miss out on our fantastic fundraising events!

This autumn season, we are inviting the community to come together and enjoy a lively line-up of events in support of our Old Library Campaign.

With a shared passion for culture, creativity, and community spirit, the campaign will be brought to life through a series of engaging events designed to entertain, inspire, and raise vital funds for the project.

The season kicks off on Saturday 30 August with the return of Newbury Sounds, an unforgettable night of live music that showcases some of the best of Newbury’s talent. Following its sell-out debut in March, this summer’s event features an eclectic line-up including A Dirty Soul, Number of the Beef, The Liaisons, Lizzie Cullen, and Solar Season. With doors opening at 6.30pm, the evening promises great music and great company, all in aid of a great cause.

On Tuesday 16 September, audiences can enjoy a rare opportunity to hear from one of Britain’s most beloved broadcasters. An Audience with Clare Balding will see the award-winning presenter visit Newbury to discuss her debut novel Pastures New, while reflecting on her career in broadcasting and her personal connection to the area. This intimate afternoon event offers a unique blend of literary insight, humour, and nostalgia. Hungerford Bookshop will be attending the event to sell copies of Pastures New to those who would like to purchase.

Alongside all of these wonderful events, supporters can also take part in a special fundraising raffle for the chance to win two central stalls tickets to see top comedian Josh Widdicombe live at the Corn Exchange with his show Not My Cup of Tea on Thursday 11 September. Raffle tickets are £5, and all proceeds will go directly to the Old Library Campaign. You must be over 18 to enter this raffle, for full T&Cs please click here

Adding some high-speed, high-energy fun to the campaign, a team of Corn Exchange staff will also be taking part in the Newbury Krazy Races on Sunday 24 August. This thrilling soapbox-style race will see teams hurtle through the town centre in handmade vehicles, tackling obstacles and raising money in spectacular (and often hilarious) fashion. Find out more
