This June, we are teaming up with The Base Greenham to bring our annual Sustainability Fair and our first houseplant swap to the Corn Exchange.

This will mark the start the Great Big Green Week on Saturday 7 June. This free event will take place in the Corn Exchange Balcony and Café Bar and will be open from 10am to 4pm.

We are continually seeking more sustainable ways in which to do things. The fair aims to bring together a whole host of individuals and organisations, all with the common goal of finding a more sustainable way of living. Visitors will be able to share ideas about sustainability, connect with businesses and organisations at the forefront of greener living and browse stalls selling environmentally friendly products and crafts, with the option to enjoy freshly prepared and delicious food/snacks from the Corn Exchange Café Bar.

Confirmed stallholders for the event so far include Newbury Council, The Base Greenham, The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT), West Berkshire Green Exchange and AllMe Jewellery. With more to be confirmed, this event is sure to provide a wonderful variety of eco-conscious exhibitors, striving to make a difference.

For the first time, the event will also include a houseplant swap, where participants are invited to bring small houseplants or cuttings to trade. This event gives fellow plant lovers the chance to network, share their knowledge and offer a swap. By the end of the event, visitors will head home with some new leafy companions and maybe even some new plant-loving friends.

The fair has been organised to coincide with the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition now in its 60th year, which runs at The Base from Friday 6 June to Sunday 20 July, with the first 200 visitors to this year's exhibition set to receive a wild gift on entry. This exhibition shines a light on the natural world and has been instrumental in raising awareness of the human impact on the planet and its wildlife, advocating for ways in which we can preserve it for generations to come. You can find out more or book tickets to see Wildlife Photographer of the Year at The Base by visiting thebasegreenham.co.uk.

Exhibitors at the Sustainability Fair will include like-minded charities, organisations and small businesses who create sustainable products and services or work to better our understanding of being eco-conscious. Exhibitor spaces are currently still available. To enquire, please contact our Box Office at boxoffice@cornexchangenew.co.uk or by calling 01635 522733.
