Meet the cast of Corn Exchange Newbury's Dick Whittington: Finna Hardy
In the lead-up to this year's #NewburyPanto adventure, Dick Whittington, we chatted with Finna Hardy who is a part of the Ensemble, in an exclusive interview...
What are you most looking forward about performing Dick Whittington at the Corn Exchange this festive season?
I am excited to meet the lovely cast, the production team and all of the fantastic people in Newbury and the Corn Exchange, and of course to get in the Christmas spirit!
How do you get into character before stepping on stage each night? And do you have any favourite traditions or superstitions before a performance?
To get into character, whilst I’m getting ready I ask myself a series of questions and answer how I think my character would. A tradition I have always had before a show is to do the ‘funky chicken’ to shake my body and get in the zone.
If you went on an adventure like Dick Whittington what three items would you bring with you?
Suncream as it’s meant to be hot down south, my childhood teddy for company and a map so I can always find my way back home.
If you could have a sidekick like Dick Whittington’s cat, what animal would you choose and why?
My sidekick would be an elephant because they are my favourite animal and they never forget!
If you could live inside the world of any Christmas film, what would it be?
NATIVITY! I would love to be friends with Mr Poppy.
If your life was a musical, what musical would it be?
Mamma Mia! As I am generally a joyful, light-hearted person. My family are very important to me and I understand that happiness can be found when least expected.
Cosmo the cat loves tea, do you have a favourite type of tea?
I love a Lemon and Ginger tea every morning and before bed.
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
I still go into my sister's room at 4am to open my stocking from Santa.
Dick Whittington runs from Friday 29 November to Sunday 5 January 2025. Find out more and book your tickets here.
