Pride in Newbury - A festival of LGBTQ+ films in the Corn Exchange cinema

Corn Exchange Newbury is excited to announce Pride in Newbury, a LGBTQ+ film festival programmed in association with Newbury Pride, will take place in its cinema from Friday 1 July to Thursday 14 July.

During the festival there is a wide range of films being screened, from cult musicals to recent releases. In the first week films include the coming-of-age tale Love, Simon; the biographical drama based on Garrad Conley’s memoir Boy Erased; the British film Pride, which is based on the true story of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to support those affected by the 1984 miners’ strike; a comical and bittersweet story of a retired hairdresser in Swan Song; the Academy Award-winning A Fantastic Woman; and Appropriate Behaviour, which tells the story of a bisexual Iranian-American woman, finding her way in modern-day Brooklyn.

The second week brings showings of the musical The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert; Portrait of a Lady on Fire which sees romance and art entwine in 18th century France; and the British coming-of-age comedy-drama Beautiful Thing. To end the festival, audiences will have the exciting opportunity to see a preview of Anaïs in Love before its UK release in August.

Pride in Newbury runs from Friday 1 July to Thursday 14 July in the Corn Exchange Cinema. The cosy cinema is situated on the top floor of the town centre-based Corn Exchange and has just 40 seats.
